This post is sponsored by Melissa & Doug.School bells are ringing! Whether your little one is starting kindergarten this year or they're simply getting back into the swing of things, we believe the first day of school is something to be celebrated.

Be sure to grab your camera or phone to get some snap shots of the kids. Make the photos special! Get out your chalkboard and create a sign that includes:

  • Your child's grade
  • The year

Then have your child decorate the borders of the sign. If they're old enough, of course, they can create their own signs!

Don't have a chalkboard or dry-erase board? Have your child create a custom sign with construction paper and markers.

If your school offers an orientation, I highly recommend taking photos then AND on the first day of school. This will ensure that you get a good shot and your little one will be less nervous. This also allows you to get some fun shots at the playground and around school without a time constraint.
