Roar! Are your kids dinosaur obsessed? Does he stomp around pretending to be a tiny-armed T-Rex.
Our girls recently went to a mid-day fossil excavation. It had been POURING all morning and they were starting to feel a bit cooped up. I remembered that we had a Smithsonian Diggin' Up Dinosaurs T-Rex stashed in the closet. They immediately got diggin'.
Those tiny toes below just make me smile...
Don't you love it when kids get so engrossed in a project that they don't even realize how dirty they are?!?
While they worked on this Diggin' Up Dinosaurs excavation project, I set them up in the garage for two reasons:
First, to avoid the mess. These projects are cool but very messy. After they were finished we just picked up the chunks and swept the dust onto the driveways.
Second, to give the girls some fresh air! We opened the garage door so they could enjoy the rainy day and thunder as they chipped away.
I was worried having ONE Diggin' Up Dinosaurs excavation kit would be a hassle but was impressed with their teamwork. One chipped while the other cleared the area with a paintbrush. They had such a wonderful time!
There are tons of different version of these dinosaur excavation and assembly projects out there. We really liked this one! It kept the kids entertained for well over an hour.
Create fossils in salt dough from your toy dinosaur collections. Use their feet and bodies to make realistic fossils that you can then paint to look like rocks.
