So last year, when we saw that The Wizard of Oz Musical was coming to the Ordway Theater in the Twin Cities, we jumped on the opportunity to see it with the girls.

How cool is this?

We wanted to give the experience to the kids for Christmas, but we didn't want to leave them feeling unsatisfied as they opened gifts under the tree. I was so excited when I found these two cuties...

We wrapped them and gave each daughter a stuffed doll with a note saying we'd be spending a long weekend in the Twin Cities to see the musical. The girls went absolutely crazy when they opened the gift and learned about the planned adventure.

Sometimes I think we underestimate children; that they will be disappointed if a holiday gift is non-traditional. Our girls have been nothing but thrilled. For additional alternative gift ideas check out this post.

We had an amazing time over the long weekend and the show was EXCELLENT. Although, as Dorthy says, "There is no place like home." It is always nice to return home after a trip to the city.
