THE LION KING Is a Great First-Time Theater Experience for Kids

This classic Disney movie makes for a wonderful afternoon matinee with the family.

3 Mom-to-Mom tips for seeing THE LION KING

If you're looking for a way to introduce your kids to the theater THE LION KING is a great first-time experience. Your little one already knows and loves the story, making it a perfect fit. Check out the official preview below along with our three mom-to-mom tips for this adventure.

Aren't the costumes amazing? They're even more stunning in person. We were able to see some of the headdresses up close and the attention to detail was beautiful.

Combine the artistry with the music and you've found yourself smack dab in the middle of Simba's world. It is truly a wonderful production. My two girls (who were nine and ten at the time) loved the performance.

Check the official THE LION KING Disney page to see if there is a performance coming soon to your area.

3 Mom-to-Mom Tips for Seeing THE LION KING

Here are three parent-to-parent tips to ensure your experience is AWESOME:

1. Try to get tickets for the first row of the Mezzanine. It gives your child a wide view of the performance. It allows them to enjoy the show without it being overwhelming or too loud. You also won’t have to worry about any really tall folks sitting in front of your family.

2. At least a month before the theater show, put the movie away. You don’t want your child constantly whispering, “That didn’t happen in the movie." Give them time to distance themselves from the cartoon.

3. Make it an adventure.  If you spend the money to buy theater tickets, book the time to make it an all day adventure. Get dressed up. Make plans to enjoy dinner and lively discussion after a matinee.  If you are seeing an evening show, do something quick and crazy, like eating ice cream at 9:45 pm with your six-year-old. Make it a family affair or a special one-on-one date. The opportunities are endless.

Have you taken your little one to any shows recently? I’d love to hear what your family saw and hear your opinion.
