Embrace the Magic of Everyday Moments

embrace-everyday Universal Studios. Cape Canaveral. Disney World. Epcot Center. Busch Gardens. When I was a kid, we saw it ALL when vacationing in Florida. My parents were the ultimate tourists, ensuring no adventure was overlooked. I think back now and smile. These expensive endeavors were my parents basically saying, "we love you," in their unique way.

Yet, when I think back upon the vacation, what brings me the most joy is all the memories of swimming at the hotel pool. My parents spent thousands and thousands of dollars to give us an unforgettable vacation, yet the childhood memories I hold on to were the simple everyday things we did on vacation.

  • Swimming with Dad at the hotel pool
  • Enjoying the warmth of the tropical sun at breakfast
  • Snuggling with Mom in the hotel room while watching TV

Here's the truth, friends: my family will likely never trek down to Florida. Despite this fact, I still wanted to give my kids the same amazing experiences I was lucky enough to enjoy. Eventually, I realized that I could give them the same joyful childhood memories if I simply embrace the magic of everyday moments.

All that money spent on that grand Florida vacation and my fondest memories are of being with my father at the pool. I look back at that trip, and then think about my kids' childhood now, and I realize how important it is to make the everyday moments count.

And of course, when you do travel, always find a hotel with an AWESOME POOL.

Embrace the Magic of Everyday Moments: It's not the vacation destination that is important to kids, rather if there is a hotel pool. Ha.

Remember friends: it's all about the pool.

I look at these photos of my girls goofing with their dad and know the memories will last a lifetime. I compare their childhood with my own and I think...

Life is good.

They're not missing a thing.

What tiny change will you make today to invoke a bit of everyday magic?
