It has been a while since we've chatted, but a lot is going on at our house so I wanted to take a moment to send you a quick note so we can catch-up.
A while back my daughter and I started a mother-daughter journal together. We decided we wanted to keep the journal private, yet personal, so we lovingly start our letters with "Dear You." It always makes me smile. I think my little lady will be ok with me starting my note to you with...
I know I've been a bit MIA this winter, my friend. I've been struggling with the season, and I tend to retreat. The lack of light during the winter is always challenging for me. I wrote a list for myself of things to do RIGHT NOW in the moment to make oneself happier and shared it over at Becoming UnBusy.
Did you know I have a new project called Becoming UnBusy?

You can find the Becoming UnBusy site here, and I'd love if you'd join the movement on Instagram too for ongoing inspiration.
I intend to continue to share tips for living an intentional life there and then here on Lasso the Moon, share with you our family's adventures in intentional living.
One step we are taking toward intentional living is selling our house. We are putting our 1950's ranch on the market this spring. Our goal is three-fold: to flip this fixer-upper for a decent profit, to size-down to a smaller space to reduce expenses so our family can travel more, and to move closer to our girls' new school.
(Both of my daughters transitioned from a traditional middle school to a local project-based learning charter school this year. The experience has been amazing so far — we loved learning chemistry through cookies! <— My daughter's first project)
I am excited to share some stuff with you that I've learned along the way with this house, like how to paint kitchen cabinets, which quick house-fixes help improve the value of your home, and even how to frugally stage your house for a fast sale.
When I searched for home update resources, I was frustrated with all the Pinterest-perfect, HGTV, over-the-top examples. I've been taking real-life photos of what we've been doing, and I'm excited to show them to you.
I've been told this is crazy to do while potentially moving, but we are getting a puppy at the end of April.
I am not sure if you remember, but my daughter was bit in the face by a dog when she was younger (I wrote a little bit about the experience here on the blog), so this is a big step for me. After a lot of research, we decided to get on a waiting list for a family-friendly Goldendoodle.
Our family has never owned a dog, so I'm excited to share some of the things we've been learning along the way. I might need to lean on you for a bit of advice on this one, too!
The last thing I always find myself thinking about lately is "five o'clock." Like I said just a minute ago, our family is working on leading a slow and intentional life, yet it seemed like balancing work, afterschool activities, and getting dinner on the table was a constant stressor in my life.
Until — it wasn't!
I've been ironing out the wrinkles of a stress-free approach to getting dinner on the table, so I can relax and enjoy time with my family in the evenings. The method is different than anything I've ever tried, and I am just itching to share it with you.
Right now, those three things going on that are constantly running through my mind — house, dog, dinner. I cannot wait to chat with you more about each!
Ok, my dear...
I am off to make myself a coffee, get the laundry rolling, and get to work. I'm glad we had a chance to catch-up a little. I look forward to chatting more.
