Catching Leprechauns: An Annual St. Patrick's Day Tradition

Published: Mar 4, 2014 · Modified: Apr 10, 2019 by Zina Harrington · Post may contain affiliate links

this post contains affiliate links - thanks for supporting usSt. Patrick's Day is around the corner and every year my daughters attempt to catch a leprechaun. They gather a cardboard box and random art supplies from around the house to build a leprechaun trap. Catching leprechauns is more challenging than you think!

This concept stems from an art project they did as preschoolers years ago. This is a tradition that THEY carry on each year.

My daughter recently read me the Irish fantasy-adventure Fiona's Luck by Teresa Bateman on Bookboard. Have you heard of Bookboard? It ROCKS.

Irish fantasy-adventure Fiona’s Luck by Teresa Bateman.

After finishing Fiona's story she has asked to share HER own tale of leprechaun traps with you. I am beyond proud of her writing and pleased to share my little lady's very first blog post with you....

Wishing you love, luck and lollipops!

Leprechaun Trap

Leprechauns  are very smart, so if you want to catch one you have to think of something unique or creative. If you keep a leprechaun stored somewhere in your house, he won’t bring you that little treat you get every year.

Some people don’t believe that leprechauns exist, here is a test you can try:

1.   Put an M&M in a corner on the day before St. Patrick's Day.
2.   Leave a light on.
3.   Go to sleep.
4.   Check to see if M&M is gone.

If the M&M is gone, you've proved that leprechauns are real.

So now do you believe in leprechauns? If you don’t, ask me some questions.

Do you want to catch one? Think about it.

You might want to make the floor of your little leprechaun trap look shiny or smooth.
When he steps in he might get stuck for a long time or just a little.

If you catch one, just take a picture or two and let him go. You probably have about one in a million chances of catching one of those smart little leprechauns.
