The Art of Writing is a unique educational conference hosted by the Milwaukee Art Museum that brings together the power of writing and art.
Every year the Milwaukee Art Museum comes together with local students to host The Art of Writing conference for kids. The children use the art in the museum to inspire their writing pieces. Here's a little bit more about the program:
The Art of Writing conference promotes student enthusiasm and competence in written and visual expression using the Museum's collection as inspiration. The purpose of the conference is to engage students in the creative process while improving their abilities in writing, drawing, listening and speaking. We recognize the accomplishments of the writers and artists with the publication of this year’s edition of the Art of Writing book containing their stories and sketches.
Students around the Milwaukee Metropolitan Community are bused in for the event, but any child in the state of Wisconsin can apply to participate (transportation not provided). So, this year our Mighty Girls Book Club decided to make an adventure of it. We trekked down (in a blizzard; I might add) to this amazing experience. It was worth the chaos!
The Milwaukee Art Museum has an ongoing collection of inspirational activities for creative kids. Check out their current calendar of events here and make plans for your artistic adventure.
