Can the answer to getting your kids to eat healthy be this simple? Just put out berries.
Save yourself a dinner argument, not every meal has to be perfectly balance. Instead look at the bigger picture and ask:
"How balanced has my child's
diet been overall today?"
It they munch down a huge bowl full of carrots after school does it really matter if they don't eat broccoli at dinner?
The best way to ensure your child has a balanced diet throughout the day is to simply offer up healthy snacks.
- Quietly put out munchies as they play. I actually recommend you don't say anything when you put them out. Mums the word. Let them simply discover a bowl of berries or a dish of carrots sticks sitting next to them as they play.
- If they notice you setting the snack down they might say, "No thanks" or something more colorful like "I don't want carrots. Ick." Just smile as you walk away and reply, "You don't have to eat them." Nine times out of ten my kiddos will still eventually reach for a bite.
- If the snack goes untouched avoid striking deals with your kids. When we try to convince our kids to eat fruits and veggies, it makes them less desirable. Simply pick up the snack dish and put it in the fridge for another time in the day.
