This week I was making our standard energy bites recipe with our two girls when we realized we were out of chocolate chips. Many energy balls list chocolate chips as "optional," but at our house, they are a requirement.
As we searched the pantry in desperation, I couldn't help but think of this quote from the book The Artful Parent |Simple Ways to Fill Your Family’s Life with Art & Creativity:
Creativity is the ability to think outside the proverbial box, to string two unrelated ideas together in a new way.
Solutions to major problems and breakthroughs of all kinds are linked to creativity. The ability to create is vital to the success of our children and the well-being of our world, now more than ever…
The world needs more and better creative thinkers.
What I love about The Artful Parent book is that it is not only filled with art projects, but creative ways to adjust your household and LIVE a truly creative life. Check it out here...

When I thought about the approaches shared in The Artful Parent, I realized the missing chocolate chips were an opportunity for us to get creative with our standard recipe.
We found some cocoa and the girls "strung two unrelated ideas together in a new way." We experimented and created a protein ball that tasted like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.
