Dance Floor Date Dress in Scarlet

"I neeeeeed it!" my brother would whine. My mom would reply, "No you want it." I couldn't help laugh this morning when I saw an "I NEED IT!" button next to this dress on the Mod Cloth website.

Do you really need a new dress for the holidays? Do I need one? Should I hit that "I NEED IT!" button and put myself on the waiting list for this gorgeous dress?

The joy of Christmas does not depend on us wearing a beautiful new dress. No, we don't need it. Still, below are four reasons why you should consider following through with your want.

1. Moms get stuck in the everyday grind.

I admit, most of Christmas break I will be tooling around the house in yoga pants and a long sleeve t-shirt. Every once in a while it feels good to break that pattern and dress-up. You will feel stellar if you take the time to dress up for the holidays. You deserve something beautiful.

Budget Tip: If you're on a tight budget like me, consider buying a neutral or black dress. You can use dramatic accessories to bring your dress to life for multiple occasions.

2. Set a positive example for your daughter.

I do believe children are like the moon, the reflect the world around them. As mothers, we are constantly putting the needs of others in front of us. We need to teach our daughters (and sons) that we have to take time for ourselves. Most of the year, for me, this means things like going to yoga, having dinner with a friend or taking a photography class. Around the holidays it means taking a little extra time to get fancy for a holiday party or church. The girls and I chit chat as I get on make-up, they are honored to help me zip my dress, in other words... it is a bonding experience.

3. Dressing up makes the holidays feel special.

Yeah, loafing around in your PJ pants all days sounds like a dream, but if you are like me, by the end of the day you feel like a slug. Dressing up to attend church, meet your family, or even have a special dinner at home, makes the event hold weight as something special with children.

I've been smitten withย Mod Cloth all month long. I've been looking around for that perfect dress. They've got the best "I've got a baby tire to hide" dresses with flare below a higher waistline to cover that low flab that just seems to stick after you've had one, two, or three babies. A quick reminder that dressing up for the holidays doesn't mean buying a new dress. Sometimes a borrowed or new scarf or piece of jewelry is all you need bring life back into something you already own. Shop your own closet first!

Happy Holidays!
