Irresistible Slow-Cooker Mulled Cider

Ingredients
  • 1 gallon fresh apple cider
  • 3 to 5 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • ½ teaspoon Allspice
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • Dash of salt
  • OPTIONAL — ¼ cup maple syrup
  • GARNISH — Star or heart apple slices and fresh cranberries
Instructions
  1. Add cider, spices, and (optional) maple syrup to slow cooker.
  2. While slicing the fresh fruit, warm the cider on high until hot.
  3. Add the fresh orange, lemon, and (optional) star or heart apple slices into the mulled cider, along with the (optional) cranberries.
  4. Reduce slow-cooker temp to low/warm to keep the mulled cider the perfect temp all day.
  5. Ladle into cups and serve warm.
Notes
Mulled cider looks beautiful with all the fruit and spices floating on top, but they can make the cider challenging for kids to sip. To avoid getting bits of spices in mugs, tie up the cloves and Allspice in a cheesecloth satchel, a coffee filter, or consider using a tea ball.
