Keep in touch! As adults we say this often, but busy schedules often take over. Relationships take effort, commitment and time.
Teach your child this lesson by making "Keep in Touch" Goodie Bags with them before school is over. Get all the details below!
Supplies:
- Gift bag: an size, color or shape
- Tissue paper, ribbon & bag decorations
- 2 sets of note-cards (1 for you, 1 for the recipient)
- Stamps
- Stickers
- Pencils
Directions:
- Sit down with your child and have them pick two "school friends" they'd like to keep in touch with over the summer.
- Have your child carefully open, stamp and address one set of note-card envelopes to YOUR home address. Return the note-cards to their original packaging or tie them together with a piece of ribbon.
- Open the second set of note-cards. Have your child write their friend a note explaining that they'd like to stay in touch over the summer. If you'd like to expand on the relationship also include a note-card for the parent requesting a summer play-date. Be sure to share your email address, whether you accept text messages, or throw in a good old-fashion phone number so they know the best way to get in touch.
- Put the stamped note-card set and your personal notes into the gift bag along with the stickers and pencils. Decorate!
- Drop your teacher an email and ask them the best way for your child to deliver their "Keep in Touch Bags" with their selected friends. They will appreciate the heads-up.
Let's Lasso the Moon Tip: Be frugal. Use items from within your home or from the $1 bin.
Shopping notes: We got the adorable ladybug note-cards from the $1 bin at Michaels, the awesome felt flowers were on Easter clearance and the pencils & stickers were 50% off (a mere 40 cents!) You could also use a classic brown lunch bag and decorate it with markers.
A set of postcards would be pretty kick butt, too! Love these sets ...
