    I love packing up “non-traditional” beach activities. I keep a bag in the trunk of must have day saving mood enhancers for kids of all ages!! Twister is a sure fire way to make everyone smile and can be played ANYWHERE! (The beach, on the sidelines of sibling sporting events, jazz in the park, etc) a Box of nutrigrain bars usually ensures a healthy blood sugar boost that gets us past the mid day crabbies (and there will be enough to share) A Skien of bright yarn can be a used for a million things. “Butterfly” nets (the little nets they sell at the fish store work too) can be used to chase butterflies and minnows alike. And always a notebook and crayons/colored pencils, to record our favorite parts of the day, or jot down questions we want to look up answers to when we get home.

    Oh YES! Years of perfecting my beach-going skills have brought me to the pinnacle of beach creativity. Ahem. Seriously, though, as long as we have lots of snacks (because everyone gets hungry on the beach) and maybe some good shells to dig with, we are set. I find that if we keep it simple, the kids come up with their own magical activities… but my latest post describes what we MOST love to do at the beach…search for sea glass.
